ABOUT
Simon Phipps was born in Leeds and lives and works in London. He is a graduate in sculpture from the Royal College of Art and a renowned photographer of post-war modernist architecture, art and design. He is the author of five books: Brutal London, Finding Brutalism, Concrete Poetry, Brutal North and Brutal Outer London. Finding Brutalism was a winner of the 2018 DAM Architectural Book Award. Simon Phipps’s books are held in major collections, libraries and museums including: Tate Library and Archive, V & A, ETH Zurich, Art Institute of Chicago, Getty Research Institute and MOMA. His photographs have been published in many magazines and newspapers amongst which are The Guardian, Wallpaper, Die Zeit, Hochparterre, Wired and Architecture Today. Private and public collections of work include: Arup, Bemis Foundation, KOKO, Margaret Howell, Museum Im Bellpark, RIBA, University of Leeds.
